When trying to open Quickmap Version 7, you may get this error:
Could not open database Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB4.0;Data Source=(Path\QMap.mdb)
Unrecognized database format (Path\QMap.mdb).
This occurs due to the QMap.mdb file becoming corrupted, possibly during the data update process. This is a bug that is fixed in Quickmap Version 8, however upgrading to Version 8 will not fix the issue as the corruption needs to be fixed prior to the upgrade.
To fix the Unrecognized database format error, either:
- Copy QMap.mdb from an alternative location (either a backup or a C:\Qmap\data\QMap.mdb from a client PC. If neither of these options is available, you can use QMap.mdb from the Data folder on Quickmap Disk 1 of the installation disks). The preferred location to get QMap.mdb from is a backup, because this database may hold information pertaining to Custom Layers (Edit Layers) that have been created
- Alternatively, if you have a copy of Microsoft Access, you can Compact and Repair the corrupted QMap.mdb file – which is arguably the best option
