When trying to download the latest data via the Quickmap Data Download Manager, you may get this error:
Quickmap Data Installation Failed verification failed
The process cannot access the file ‘\\server\Qmap\Data\legal\App\APP_NTH.QIK’ because it is being used by another process.
Scenario 1: a lock file exists in the Quickmap data folder due to file being open somewhere
A likely cause of this error is due to Quickmap being open on one of the workstations connected to the server. The data update should automatically exit out of all Quickmap applications, however this automatic Quickmap shutdown can be intercepted by a user running an older version of Quickmap.
Another scenario is that an old Quickmap version 7 has crashed out on one of the workstations with the process still parity running in the background.
To determine if there is a Quickmap file open on of the workstations open Computer Management as an administrator on the server and navigate to Shared Folders > Open Files.
If you have no luck sourcing the open file using the Computer Management, try restarting the server and try again
Scenario 2: Quickmap Data Downloader service is running under and account that doesn’t have permissions
This is because the Quickmap Data Downloader service is running under an account that doesn’t have permissions to create the QMap.lck file specified in the error.
To fix this, either install the Quickmap Data Downloader on the server hosting the data or:
Start services.msc as Administrator (right click, run as administrator).
Find the Quickmap Data Downloader service in the list. Right click it and click Properties.
Click the Logon tab.
Change the account from Local System to another account that has Modify permission on the Quickmap data folder specified in the error message.
Restart the service.
