Downloads Are Not Currently Available

When updating Quickmap data with QDownloader, you may get this error:

Downloads are not currently available.

❗ This error is not to be confused with the error: Downloads Are Not Currently Available. Server Response: HTTP/1.1 401 Unauthorized.

QDownloader shows that Downloads are not currently available because it is not possible to connect to Quickmap to get the data. Either there is a network problem or (most likely) a firewall blocking access. Such a firewall could be located on the computer itself or on your network.

To fix this, please ensure that the BITS protocol is able to communicate with downloads.quickmap.co.nz. You may need to install any outstanding Windows Updates, then reboot (because Windows Update doesn’t always correctly free up the service for use by other applications). If this doesn’t work, contact Quickmap to get a download that uses another protocol.
