Installing Data Updates |
Top Previous Next |
These install instructions apply to upgrading the QuickMap Enterprise software and data with an Update disk on any PC installed with QuickMap.
If you run the upgrade on a PC installed from a file server using the QuickMap setup Minimal install option, then this will upgrade the server. This means you only have to run upgrade once in order to upgrade all PCs running off the server. If you upgrade a PC that was originally installed as a stand-alone PC using the Typical install option, then this will upgrade the stand-alone PC. In both cases, the upgrade can only be run on a PC that has been previously installed using the QuickMap setup.exe, rather than via copying the files using Windows Explorer.
NOTE: Only data is copied to the PC or server with this upgrade. No software will be installed. If you wish to upgrade the software, then answer yes when asked if you want to install the Automatic Software Upgrade Facility.
Automatic Software Upgrade Facility Setup.exe provides you with the option of installing an automatic software upgrade facility. If you choose to install this facility, then setup.exe will copy an AutoUpgrade folder onto your computer, which is used by QuickMap to indicate a software upgrade is available. The next time you run QuickMap, Qmap.exe will detect that a software update is available, and ask you if you want to install it. If this upgrade is applied to a server, then all users running QuickMap off that server will receive the QuickMap software update next time they run QuickMap. This means that they must have sufficient administrator privileges to install the QuickMap upgrade next time they run QuickMap.
