When trying to run Quickmap, you get this error:
Quickmap Cannot View This File Version. Please Update Your Quickmap Software And Try Again.
Upgrade Required
or this error:
Quickmap could not find the file \\server\folder\QMap\Data\Topo\nz.lvl
(or similar)
This is because Quickmap is unable to contact either:
- The underlying Quickmap data folder. Perhaps there are no permission, network/firewall or network share problems? To troubleshoot this, navigate to the following registry location to see where the Quickmap data is located (HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Quickmap\Config\DataDir), then see if you can access that location (read/write) via Windows Explorer. Assuming that the location is navigable to using Windows Explorer, typically reinstalling the data will fix this, although in some scenarios you may potentially need an updated data install (contact Quickmap for this).
- The registration server (quickmap.co.nz). Perhaps there is a network, firewall or DNS issue preventing Quickmap from contacting quickmap.co.nz over port 80?
If the above options do not fix the file version error, you may need to contact Quickmap for a data update.

Updated article to include the Quickmap could not find the file \\server\folder\QMap\Data\Topo\nz.lvl error, which occurs after the initial error (Quickmap Cannot View This File Version. Please Update Your Quickmap Software And Try Again. Upgrade Required). Note that depending on the data available to your version of Quickmap (North, South island or all of NZ), you may experience a similar error referencing a different .lvl file. In any case, the solution is the same as the one outlined in the article.
