TimeoutException – Unable To Contact Quickmap Licensing Service.

Sometimes you may get this error when starting Quickmap:

Quickmap: Unexpected Error Encountered

TimeoutException (Unable to contact Quickmap licensing service.

Please contact technical support.) in method Initialise of class Program

We are currently working on a more permanent fix for this, but in the meantime you can work around it by restarting the Quickmap Licensing Service. To do this click on the windows / start button (or the Windows key on your computer), then type services.msc then right click the Services app and click Run as Administrator, then find the Quickmap License Service in the list, right click it and click either Start or Restart (depending on which option you have available).

If you get this regularly, you may wish to try setting the Quickmap License Service to start automatically, but with a delay. To do this click on the windows / start button (or the Windows key on your computer), then type services.msc then right click the Services app and click Run as Administrator, then find the Quickmap License Service in the list, right click it and click Properties, then change the startup type from Automatic to Automatic (Delayed Start) and click the OK button.

❗ Note: If you get this error after updating your computer to Windows 10 with an inline upgrade, you may need to reinstall Quickmap to fix this error

Addendum: This should now be fixed in the latest version of Quickmap. Update Quickmap to fix this issue.
