Quickmap Data Downloader may fail to update the data, reporting the following error:

Data update failed: Access to the path ‘\\Server\Data\QMap.lck’ is denied.

This is because the Quickmap Data Downloader service is running under and account that doesn’t have permissions to create the QMap.lck file specified in the error.

To fix this, either install the Quickmap Data Downloader on the server hosting the data or:

1. Start services.msc as Administrator (right click, run as administrator).
2. Find the Quickmap Data Downloader service in the list. Right click it and click Properties.
3. Click the Logon tab.
4. Change the account from Local System to another account that has Modify permission on the Quickmap data folder specified in the error message.
5. Restart the service.
