Quickmap System Requirements

As Quickmap’s software is enhanced, and new data is being added to Quickmap each month, system requirements may differ than listed below. Therefore it is recommended that these system requirements should only be used as a rough guide. If you have specific concerns due to provisioning limitations / requirements, please contact us.

Quickmap Version 8 System Requirements

Quickmap v8 uses .NET 4.6.1, which is installed (if not already installed on your computer) when you install Quickmap.

Operating Systems Supported:

  • Windows 11, Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7 (64-bit only) – While Quickmap runs on x32 operating systems, we strongly recommend a x64 bit operating system so Quickmap has access to enough memory to run all features. Note: Windows 7 32-bit is no longer supported as it no longer supports .NET 4.6.1 or above.
  • Windows Server 2019, Windows Server 2016, Windows Server 2012 and Server 2012 (R2), Server 2008 R2 SP1.

CPU: While Quickmap runs on all CPUs, we strongly recommend a x64 bit operating system so Quickmap has access to enough memory to run all features. Like all applications, Quickmap will run slowly on older CPUs.

Memory: We recommend a minimum of 4GB of RAM, but suggest more if possible, particularly when using memory intensive features such as printing high resolution aerial photography.

Hard Disk:

  • 4GB per Island
  • 2GB for SalesView (optional)
  • 1.5TB (approximately) for North Island Aerial Photography (1.27TB exactly as of 2023, but this grows as photos get replaced with higher resolutions) (optional)
  • 1TB (approximately) for South Island Aerial Photography (0.82TB exactly as of 2023, but this grows as photos get replaced with higher resolutions) (optional)
  • 4.5GB Survey View [Note: the use of the free survey plans, which are available in all supported versions of Quickmap, require no additional disk space] (optional)

❗ Note: Where data is stored on a central server, each PC requires 5 GB
❗ Note: Storing Quickmap data on a drive that uses synchronization technology such as OneDrive is not supported.
❗ Note: Storing data in a location / network that is geographically separate (i.e. over a WAN) to the Quickmap client will make Quickmap non-performant.

Optional expansion packs are delivered on a USB hard drive, so a USB port is required on your PC if you plan to use the data from the USB hard drive or on any PC to copy the data to your network.
❗ Note: We do not recommend running expansion packs from the USB drive provided without a backup due to risk of failure and loss. We cannot reinstall lost data onto your USB drive.

Display: Super VGA (800 x 600) or above. Recommended settings is High Colour (16bit) 1024 x 768 resolution or better
Peripherals: Microsoft Mouse, Microsoft IntelliMouse or compatible pointing device.

Quickmap Version 7 System Requirements

Operating Systems:

  • Windows NT, XP, Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 (Requires Quickmap v6.3.89 or better)
  • Apple Mac OS X: 5.8 Version 10.6: “Snow Leopard”, 5.9 Version 10.7: “Lion”, 5.10 Version 10.8: “Mountain Lion”, 5.11 Version 10.9: “Mavericks”, 5.12 Version 10.10: “Yosemite” & 5.13 Version 10.11: “El Capitan”
  • Windows Server 2000, Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 (R2), Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 (R2), Windows Server 2012 and Server 2012 (R2) (Requires Quickmap v6.3.89 or better), Windows Server 2016

CPU: Computer with Pentium 133 megahertz (MHz) or higher processor. Quickmap v6.3.89 or better also supports x64 processors.

A CDROM drive may be required, depending on your available installation media.

Hard Disk:

  • 4GB per Island
  • 2GB for SalesView (optional)
  • 150GB (estimated*) South Island Survey Plans (optional)
  • 300GB (estimated*) North Island Survey Plans (optional)
  • 1TB (Approximately) NZ Aerial Photography per island (optional)
  • 4.5GB Survey View (optional)

* This number will vary wildly, depending on the age of your survey plans (because more survey plans are added as time goes by). Since Quickmap 7 is no longer sold, the Survey Plans expansion for Quickmap 7 is no longer sold, so the best way to see how much space your Survey Plans expansion will take, is to look at the size of the data on the drive. Naturally, we recommend upgrading to Quickmap 8 to get these over the web for free and so you don’t have to account for the extra storage. There’s also the benefit of getting the latest set of plans without having to upgrade your expansion pack.

❗ Note: Where data is stored on a central server, each PC requires 60Mb

Optional expansion packs are delivered on a USB hard drive, so a USB port is required on your PC if you plan to use the data from the USB hard drive or on any PC to copy the data to your network.
❗ Note: We do not recommend running expansion packs from the USB drive provided without a backup due to risk of failure and loss. We cannot reinstall lost data onto your USB drive.

❗ Note: CD-ROM and/or data provided on USB stick or hard drive may be copied from another PC or server from a shared network drive.

Display: Super VGA (800 x 600). Recommended settings is High Colour (16bit) 1024 x 768 resolution or better
Peripherals: Microsoft Mouse, Microsoft IntelliMouse or compatible pointing device.
