Most properties have a title, statute or other public land reference. If no title is shown on the map, the land may be Maori Land, Crown Land, or an Unmatched title. Maori Land used to be administered by the Maori Land Court, and not processed by LINZ. As the titles were not held by LINZ, they were not referenced in their system. Currently missing Maori Land Titles are moved into the LINZ system when a dealing is required on that land. However there are still many Maori titles not referenced by LINZ. Most Crown Land has a title, but a small number of parcels such as unalienated Crown land were never given a title. Unmatched titles are titles that are not linked to the spatial view in LandOnLine, and therefore do not display in QuickMap. Typically these unmatched titles are
Custom Software has increased the title match provided from LandOnLine from around 75% to 94%. For the remaining 6%, QuickMap still allows you to report the missing titles and owners.
If you don’t know the title or owner, and it is not displayed on the map, you can use QuickMap’s wild card search facility on the legal description to track it down. The Survey Plan expansion pack also provides help in locating missing titles.
