Quickmap.LCKin the shared Quickmap data folder on your server to trigger Quickmap to close for all users. - Copy downloaded data to your Quickmap data folder: Copy the contents of the downloaded zip file into your Quickmap data folder.
- Delete the file Quickmap.LCK if this was created in step 3 above.
Detailed Instructions
1. Find the Quickmap Data Folder
Run Quickmap, select About off the Help menu, and make a note of the Data Folder.
These instructions work for both Version 7 and Version 8 Quickmap; Version 7 Quickmap Data is stored in C:\Qmap\Data
2. Download the Zip File
Click the Download button. Wait for the download to complete. This may take between 5 and 60 minutes, depending on the size of the data and your internet speed.
If you click the here hyperlink on the download page, it will display updated instructions; we recommend following the instructions from the link rather than any previously saved instructions.
3. Close Quickmap
After the file has downloaded, close Quickmap to avoid file locking issues when copying the update.
If applying the update to a shared network drive used by multiple users, create the file Quickmap.LCK in the Quickmap data folder (determined in Step 1). The contents of the file do not matter; it simply signals Quickmap to close for all users.
You can create Quickmap.LCK manually using Windows Explorer, or download it from:
Download Quickmap.LCK
After downloading, right-click Quickmap.LCK and select Copy. Then right-click on the Quickmap data folder (from Step 1) and select Paste. All LDB files such as Quickmap.ldb and Roads.ldb should disappear once Quickmap is fully closed.
4. Copy Downloaded Data to Your Quickmap Data Folder
- Return to your web browser, click on the downloaded file, and select Show in folder.
- Right-click the zip file and select Open with → Windows Explorer.
- Highlight all files, right-click, and select Copy.
- Browse to the Quickmap data folder (from Step 1), right-click, and select Paste.
5. Delete the Quickmap.LCK File
After copying is complete, delete the Quickmap.LCK file created in Step 3. Repeat these instructions for all URLs provided to you by Custom Software Limited.
Tip: To check how recent your Quickmap data is—or to verify that a recent data update was successful—go to Help → Date of Property Data in the Quickmap menu.
Note: this shows how up-to-date the data is, not the date you last installed it.
Note
Data updates are also available using Custom Software’s QDownloader.exe or via the Quickmap Data Download Manager. We recommend using the automatic data updater method, as it is significantly easier than the manual download process. To set up automatic updates email support@quickmap.co.nz.
