When trying to register Quickmap, you may get the following error:
Quickmap Registration Failed
The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error
occurred on a receive.
This error usually means that the Quickmap software can’t communicate freely with the Quickmap website. To fix this:
Step 1: Check for client side issues
- Internet connection – Make sure you have a working, stable internet connection.
- Antivirus and firewall – Programs firewalling Quickmap are the most common causes of registration issues, which includes firewalls on the computer (which may be done by the antivirus or other firewall) and firewalls on your network. Check that your firewall allows Quickmap to communicate on all required ports.
- Ensure Quickmap is not blocked by your antivirus.
- Other security software – If you use any additional security tools (e.g., endpoint protection, proxy filters), confirm that Quickmap is allowed through.
Step 2: Rule out Quickmap server issues
If you’ve confirmed that your local internet and security settings are not the problem, the issue may be with the Quickmap server. Contact Quickmap support – they can test registration on their end to confirm if there’s a server-side problem or not.
