This App Can’t Run On Your PC

When trying to install Quickmap data, you may get this error:

This app can’t run on your PC

To find a version for your PC, check with the software publisher

At the time of writing, Quickmap and it’s associated programs run on all versions of Windows. To confirm that this still holds true, please check the system requirements for Quickmap.

Given the above, it’s possible that you may have run a different program that was previously downloaded to your PC. Please open the folder containing the installer you wish to run and verify that it’s the Quickmap one (re-downloading and saving the download to a different location, and checking the timestamp will help confirm this), before running the installer again.

That aside, there are other potential fixes for this that could be worth trying, including:

  • Rebooting the PC
  • Running the following commands as Administrator:
    • dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
    • sfc /scannow
  • Uninstall any browser extensions (especially security ones, such as the McAfee WebAdvisor Chrome extension) that may be corrupting the download, then download and run the app again
  • Right-click the executable file of the app and select Properties. Then select the Compatibility tab, check Run this program in compatibility mode for, and then use the drop-down menu to select a different version of Windows. Click Apply -> OK, then try running the app again
  • Ensure that the clock on your PC is showing the correct date and time (it’s used as part of Windows Authentication, which could be causing the problem)
