This Version Of This File Is Not Compatible With The Version Of Windows You’re Running – 7z.exe

When trying to update Quickmap data or install Quickmap 8, you can get these errors:

7z.exe

The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you’re running. Check
your computer’s system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit)
version of the program, and then contact the software publisher.

or

Quickmap Data Setup Failed

C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Temp\Quickmap\7z\7z.exe: This
version of %1 is not compatible with the version of Windows you’re
running. Check your computer’s system information to see whether
you need a x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then
contact the software publisher.

These errors happen because a previous version of Quickmap containing an incorrect version of 7zip has components left on your computer.

To fix this, delete the contents of the C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Temp\Quickmap\ folder, and delete each of the following files (and any other versions of them) from your download directory (wherever  your browser stores files after you download them):

  • QSetup.exe
  • QInstaller.exe
  • QDownloader.exe
  • QDataSetup.exe

❗ Note: If you don’t know where your download directory is, download a file from the internet and open the location of the file that you downloaded. This is your download directory. If you don’t know how to do this then you probably don’t need to worry about it, as this step is intended to ensure that users that run downloaded files manually from the download directory don’t end up accidentally running an older version with this problem.

Once each of those has been deleted, download a new copy and try installing again.
